If I am being totally honest with myself, and you I am a messy person. Not dirty, but I can be definitely a cluttered person. So a part of my personal development over the past few years has been discovering the flaws that I have, and how to either fix them or understand them. Because of that I have been making a conscious effort to declutter my life, my space, and eventually my mind. If you are like me you may be struggling to figure out actionable steps to declutter your life and mind, so today I wanted to share with you some of the tips and tricks I have learned and tried the hard way.
Set priorities for the things that you want to keep decluttered and the things you want to get done.
Use storage techniques
This one is super important especially if you have a small space. You have to think strategically for example think tall if you have a narrow space.
Clean out your wallet
You may be wondering why is this important, but trust me taking care of your money can drastically change your mindset, so start keeping your wallet organized and clean.
Clean out your closet
Our closets are often one of the things we truly forget to clean out, but imagine how much extra space you will have in your life if you get rid of what you don’t need.
Batch work/designated time frames
Batch together similar work type items or give yourself designated time frames in which to get things done.
This one is simple, start labeling things so you know what is what, and where things are.
Just get rid of stuff, especially if you don’t need or want to keep them. If you haven’t used it in a year chuck it.
Refine the value of the items you have. Start thinking about what things are really worth to you, and whether or not it is truly worth keeping them.
Get rid of duplicates
If you have duplicates of something, get rid of the,.
Deal with sentimental things
If it is truly something you want to keep like your great grandmother’s wedding ring then find a place for it, but if it is something like a ticket stub from that one random concert in college then maybe you don’t need it.
Find actual homes
Find actual homes for things, and put them back where they belong
Wouldn’t buy, don’t keep
If you wouldn’t buy it again, then don’t keep it.
I hope these tips and tricks have proved helpful for you in decluttering you life and mind. I would love to know what tips and tricks you recommend for decluttering, so feel free to share them in the comments.
