I don’t know about you, but as far as I am concerned there are very few things in this world that are better than a nice face mask, at the end of the day. I mean come on they are luxurious, great for your skin, and the perfect way to relax at the end of the day. So in honor of my love of face masks I wanted to test out two popular at home DIY face mask recipes that I found online, and really put them to the test to see how I felt they worked. Because let’s be honest skincare can be expensive, and if I can find a good at home DIY mask that I can make whenever I want then I am all for it. The two masks I will be testing out can both be made with what you have in your fridge or pantry, so no need for any fancy or crazy ingredients.
Hydrating and Nourishing Mask
1/2 avocado or 1 tbs milk
1 tbs honey
a handful of oats
This mask claims to provide hydration and provide nourishment. The honey and avocado act as a natural moisturizer while the oats helps to calm, nourish, and heal the skin. If you choose to use milk instead of avocado then one of the main components of milk is lactic acid which helps to exfoliate and brighten the skin.
Ok let me start by saying that this definitely feels more like a scrub than a mask, or maybe that is just user error haha, but nevertheless. I will say my skin did feel very moisturized and soft after using this.
Pore Minimizing Face Mask
1 egg white
1 tbs of honey
a squeeze of lemon juice
This mask claims to help minimize the size of your pores. The egg white and lemon juice act like an astringent and tighten the skin, while the honey is a natural way to moisturize the skin.
I guess you could say this little experiment somewhat succeeded and somewhat failed haha, but I highly encourage you to test out your own at home face masks and skincare to see what you like and if they can help your skin.
