Everyone knows that they should wear sunscreen. We hear it from our parents, commercials, doctors, etc., but the truth is that sunscreen really is something that everyone should consider an essential. Trust me I am basically the same color as Casper. Wearing SPF (also known as sun protection factor) is critical to the health of your skin, and your overall body. Your skin is your largest organ so why not protect it as best you can from the dangers of the Sun. We all know that wearing sunscreen can help protect us against skin cancer, but it also helps to keep the skin looking younger longer. The number one thing I always urge people to consider when choosing a sunscreen is to go from one labeled “broad spectrum”. Essentially this means that it is designed to protect against both UVA and UVB rays, both of which are dangerous for your skin. Many sunscreens will only protect against one, but ensuring that you are covered against both really is the way to go. You should try and wear some form of sunscreen, at least SPF 30, everyday especially on your face. Traditionally there are two types of sunscreens physical and chemical; which is better is often a controversial topic. In my opinion they both serve as purpose, and which one you choose is largely dependent on your skin type, sensitivity, and your skins needs.
