Now I don’t know about you, but I love a good routine, and especially a Sunday night reset routine to get me ready for the week. I don’t know what it is but I love getting ready for the week to come, winding down on a Sunday evening, and just enjoying the last few moments of the weekend. I am a firm believer that a well established Sunday night reset routine can not only let you enjoy the last hours of the weekend, but also set you up for the most enjoyable and productive week ahead. Now that is not to say that the week will be perfect or that you might not still have some worry about the week to come, but let’s try to ease that as much as we can by establishing a routine for ourself.
Step One: Shower
I don’t know about you, but step one for me is always a nightly shower, but if you aren’t a night time showerer then go ahead and skip this step. Having said that I cannot swear enough by that clean feeling before going to bed. I love washing the day off, winding down, and relaxing as the start to my reset routine.
Step Two: Face Mask/Pamper
Whether you do this in the shower or right after I cannot stress enough the importance of starting your week off with a little pampering self care. I always love a good face mask, but you might want to paint your nails or something else. It really doesn’t matter what it is as long as you are taking some time for yourself to honor yourself.
Step Three: Plan
If you have been around the blog for a while or feel like you know me in any way then you probably know that I am a big planner. I love me some planners, stickers, agendas, and the like. The more the merrier in my opinion. Having said that I do truly recommend taking some time out of your Sunday evening to plan out the week ahead. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy meticulous or elaborate, but something as simple as just jotting down a few key things you have to get done that week is super beneficial. So grab yourself a planner or a piece of paper and write out your check list and to do list for the week.
Step Four: Light A Candle
Now I understand that this step may not be for everybody, but boy do I love lighting a candle and just relaxing towards the end of a Sunday evening. Part of the reason I recommend this is because there is something very therapeutic about lighting a candle. It relaxes us, winds us down, and often gets us into a better mood to sleep.
Step Five: Entertainment
This step is entirely dependent on what kind of things you like to do at the end of the day, but for myself I love to curl up and either read a good book or watch a little tv or Youtube before dozing off for the night. It really doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is something conducive to you relaxing and slowing down for the evening. Whatever you do I recommend you don’t spend too much time staring at screens before bed because it can trick your brain into thinking that it is day time, and we don’t want that right before going to sleep.
