If you have been around the blog for any period of time then you are probably aware of my pretty extreme love for self care. I am probably one of the biggest proponents for self care you will ever meet. I have learned the hard way that self care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself, and that if you aren’t taking care of yourself then you are doing yourself a grave disservice. So in honor of that I wanted to share with you my self care ritual or routine, and maybe it will give you some ideas of how to take care of yourself.
I have found that one of the best ways to take care of yourself is to simple take a nice hot shower or bath, and wash away the stresses of the day.
Ohh face masks, my love! Y’all I can’t tell you enough how much I love a good face mask. I don’t know what it is, but there is something so therapeutic and relaxing about them that if you are trying take care of yourself I cannot recommend them enough.
Now this won’t be for everyone, but if you are looking for a way to pamper yourself, and give yourself something extra or out of the ordinary then I encourage you to paint your nails. There is something about looking down at your nails once they are painted that reminds you that you took time for yourself, and that you should do it again.
This is by far one of my favorite ways to take care of myself and that is to either read, watch tv, or listen to music. I am a huge let’s call it entertainment junkie, so anything that gives me something to read, watch or listen to is ideal for me. It allows me to escape my own head and world and venture into another, and as far as I am concerned not much can beat that.
This is probably the one that most people won’t think about when it comes to a self care ritual, but I swear by mediation as a form of relaxation. There is something about taking a few minutes for yourself to just revert into your own world, and release all thought. I highly encourage you to consider meditation as a way to take care of yourself.
The most important thing whether you take my suggestions or not is that you are taking time out of each day to take care of yourself and practice self care. Because the truth is you are your most important relationship and it is your responsibility to nurture that relationship.
