I like to think my evening routine is relatively simply. I guess I tend to want to be more low maintenance and leisurely at night, so that I can wind down and relax. After a long day there is nothing I want less than to have some crazy elaborate or stressful routine. I don’t know about you, but when I think about getting ready for bed I want to be cozy, relaxed, and as simplified as possible. The first thing I do every night is get changed into some comfy jammies to set the right tone for the rest of the evening. If I plan on taking a shower at night then I will do that prior to changing, but I don’t always shower at night, so it just depends. Skincare is also my next step. I find that staying regular and consistent with my skin care regimen is one of the best ways to ensure that the products are working the way they are supposed to for me, so by having a regular schedule of what I do in the evening and when helps to ensure that. Sometimes I will also take this time to give my skin a little treat like a mask or some special treatment that I will only do a few times a week. Once I have finished the “getting ready” category I normally make a cup of tea or something else to drink that will help me relax and get more in the mindset of calming down and thinking about going to sleep. I normally take time to drink my tea, and watch the news to catch up on what has been going on in the world. After I have finished my tea is when I go ahead and brush my teeth, since I don’t plan on eating or drinking anything else at that point. By this point I am heading to bed. I tend to do one of four things once in bed it just kinds of depends on what I am feeling on that particular day. I normally either read, spend some time writing, watch some YouTube, or meditate. I use this time to wind down and calm my brain down so that it isn’t running a thousand miles a second when I turn out the lights and try to actually fall asleep. If you are someone like me who struggles with insomnia or has any kind of difficulty sleeping I highly recommend you find something that you can do before going to bed that will help to distract and calm down your mind. That could be anything from yoga and meditation to watching your favorite Youtuber, it really doesn’t matter what it is as long as it works for you then go for it. I would love to know what are the staples of your evening routine.
