With Spring fast approaching many of us will begin thinking about the process of spring cleaning, and decluttering our lives, but one area we don’t’ often think about clearing out is our mental space. So this Spring I urge you to do a mental Spring cleaning, and remove the things from your life that are no longer serving you. This process of almost purging your mental space of things that no longer belong there is not only beneficial to our health, but also to our mindset, and can get us on the right track to take on this next season like the badass woman that you are. In honor of our mental Spring cleaning I have come up with four things that will help you tackle the clearing process, and get you on the right footing for this Spring season.
Assess what you are letting in your life
This is number one because I think it may be the most important piece of advice I can give you, and that is to truly take stock of what you are letting into your life. If something is no longer serving you, is causing you distress, or is just no longer needed in your life I encourage you to take a good long hard look as to whether or not you need to keep it in your life, whether that be relationships, people, activities, etc. Because if it is no longer something you need in your life it may be time to get rid of it, or at least lessen the impact that it has on your life.
Remove negative things from your life
Not unlike assessing what you are letting into your life taking stock of what is negative in your life is hugely important. If you are letting negative things, experiences, or people into your life, and affecting your life then you are doing yourself a disservice. You have to put yourself in the best position possible for abundance, growth, and success, and removing negative influences in your life will help you put yourself in the best possible mindset and headspace.
Address negative self talk
This one is another huge thing I cannot not address! You have got to address how you are talking to yourself. If you are practicing negative self talk, and flooding your brain with that then you are essentially setting yourself up for failure. You are the biggest person that you listen to, and when you are filling your head with negative self talk you are telling your subconscious and your conscious mind all of those negative thoughts on repeat. Those thoughts will invade your mind, and become how you think about yourself, and that is something you have to remove from your life to clean your mental space for Spring.
Take a social media break
This one may be the one that most people are hesitant to do, but I cannot swear by it enough, and that is to take a break from social media. Social media, unfortunately, is flooded with comparison, judgment, and negativity, and by removing them from your life, even just temporarily, can be hugely beneficial to your mindset. I am not here to hate on social media, but let’s be real it can be a very negative and downright dangerous place for our mindset, so taking an occasional social media cleanse can be one of the best things you do for yourself.
We all know about Spring cleaning when it comes to our homes or the things in our lives, but we don’t often think about cleansing our mind or our mental space, and that is something that is such a healthy thing to do for ourselves. In my opinion there are four key things that I suggest you try when trying to do a mental Spring cleaning, and they are assess what you are letting into your life, remover negative things from your life, address negative self talk, and take a social media break. If you are struggling with establishing a healthy mindset or an overflow of negativity in your life then I encourage you to do a deep mental cleansing this Spring.
