I know the year isn’t even half way over, but y’all I have already LEARNED some lessons this year. I mean LEARNED!! The hard way, haha. But in all seriousness it is only April, and I have already experienced so much this year, and I could not wait to tell you about all the lessons I have learned from them because I love sharing that with y’all. So I guess in honor of Spring, and the beginning of new things I wanted to share with y’all five of the most important things that I have learned this year so far, and boy are these important.
Struggle is not failure
This one may be the most important thing I have learned thus far, and that is that struggle is not failure. Struggling is simply that struggling. But it does not mean, I repeat it does not mean that you are failing what you are doing. Struggle simply means that things aren’t going as smoothly as you wish they were, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get there.
This one may be harsh, but it’s the truth, and that’s that some people aren’t meant to be in your life. This is something I have been learning steadily over the past few years, but have really realized lately, and that is that it’s ok to remove people from your life. it’s ok to have people drift out of your life. Simply it’s ok that people don’t stay around forever. Not ever friendship or relationship in general is supposed to last forever. That doesn’t mean that you don’t value it or the lessons learned or the memories from it, but people aren’t always meant to stay around.
This one for me is often the hardest to wrap my head around because I can’t imagine not supportive the people I love and their dreams, but the truth it that unsupportive people are all around. And unfortunately sometimes they are the people closest to us, so I cannot stress enough the importance of finding a tribe of people that do support you and your dreams and goals.
This goes back to the struggle isn’t failure lesson, and that is that if you do fail, fail gracefully. Feel the feelings, the anger, the sadness, whatever that goes along with failing but don’t wallow in it. Use it to fuel you, and move you forward towards your goals. Never let failure beat you or beat down your spirit.
The last and probably most important lesson I have learned thus far this year is to never quit on your dreams. Now I know this is one of those things where everybody says it, but boy have I had to learn this one the hard way this year. I have so many big dreams and plans for this site and my business, and suffice it to say that not all of them have gone smoothly. I have struggled, failed, and done it all again, but never given up because when you have a bigger reason or a bigger why behind your mission and what you are doing you can’t let anything stop you.
So suffice it to say this year so far as been one of a lot of change and growth for me. I have learned some hard lessons, and figured out more things about myself that I thought I would, but in the end I wouldn’t change it. Because let’s face it struggles and lessons lead us to become who we are, and I am someone who is trying to achieve their dreams, and no lesson learned will stop me, and it shouldn’t stop you either.
