I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but I feel like people are always starting new relationships, and relationships mean dates. But let’s be honest dates can be expensive especially if you are trying to make them special. Because of this I wanted to share with y’all some of my favorite cheap yet fun date night ideas.
Dinner in and a movie
Dinner and a movie are always a great option, I mean after all it’s an oldie but a goodie for a reason. But we all know that going out to the movies nowadays can be quite expensive so try and consider doing dinner and a movie in. Whether you get takeout or cook dinner together both can be fun, and then spend the rest of the night cuddled up on the couch watching a great movie.
Picnics are another great cheap and easy date option because they are essentially free minus whatever food you want to bring with you. What could be better than packing up some delicious little munchies and heading to a beautiful park or lake and just sitting outside and enjoying time spent with your partner. Maybe I am super cheesy (ok I am), but that sounds just fine to me.
If you are a movie junkie like I am then any date with a movie is literally the best thing ever, yes I am easy to please haha, but really if you love movies but are turned off by the ridiculous rise in movie prices nowadays then you aren’t alone. But don’t worry you are in luck, let me introduce you to the wonder that is the dollar theater, essentially the theater that charges like $2 for a movie. They are one of my favorite things ever, aside from being cheap, they normally play classics or movies that have been out for a while, which for a movie junkie like me is such a fun way to watch a movie. I mean can you imagine White Christmas or Beauty and the Beast on the big screen.
This may seem like a strange one, but just stay with me for a minute. The possibilities are endless for this idea; a brownie bake off, a super intense game of Monopoly (yes I am a dork and yes I get super competitive with board games), or a double date with charades. The things about these kind of ideas is you more likely than not have something at your house that you can use without having to do much which means you can spend more time actually spending time with your partner.
Now this won’t be for everyone, and that is okay, but I love being outside so an outdoorsy date is never out of the question. Again this is something that is super cheap if not free and really easy to plan for. You could go hiking together, spend time walking around a park or nature preserve, or even pack up for the day and head out to a zoo or botanical garden.
I bet you are think what the heck is this girl talking about, but this one may be the funniest of the date ideas. I take no credit for this, as it is something I saw on Facebook, but the idea is that each person gets a set amount of money to buy a hilarious outfit at Goodwill (you can even make a competition out of it), and then y’all can go and grab dinner or whatever you want for the rest of the night donning your extremely stylish outfits.
