I will be the first to admit that I was not always that into personal development. I knew nothing about the Law of Attraction, how to change my limiting beliefs, or how to live a higher vibe life, and to be quite honest I had no real desire to learn about those things either. But all of that changed quite quickly actually, and it all started when I discovered the technique of “acting as if”.
Acting as if is a technique which put simple refers to acting as if you already have that which you want. For example let’s say you want to become the CEO of you own business. You would start my embodying that CEO in every aspect. How does that person dress, act, speak, work, etc.? By embodying all of the characteristics and aspects of that CEO you will stop stressing and overthinking it, and start acting, and through action comes success. This premise is extremely prevalent in the Law of Attraction, which refers to the idea that like attracts like, meaning that which you put out you will get back. In regards to acting as if, if you actually think about it acting as if you are already that CEO will let the universe know that you are ready to receive that in your life.
Now you may be thinking whoa whoa that all sounds great, and everything but I don’t know about all the woo woo stuff and the universe, and all of that, well don’t worry if you aren’t that spiritual or into the woo woo stuff because acting as if is actually deeply routed in CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT and therapists often use the technique of acting as if because it helps people to rethink patterns, habits, and behaviors. After all our thoughts are our power, right? So if you are struggling to accomplish your goals I highly recommend you start practicing this technique because it has truly changed my life.
