Hey girl I see you working your butt off, hustling, grinding away like the daring girl boss, go-getter woman that you are, but I also see you struggling to be more mindful because you are so busy going after your dreams that you are forgetting to take time for yourself. But here’s the deal it’s super important to take time for yourself, and one of the best ways to do that is to start the day off mindfully. Starting your day off mindfully ensures that you are not only taking care of yourself, but that you are going after your dreams and goals and aspirations from a place of integrity and with self care and mindfulness as a priority, which makes everything else in your life easier. So if you are like me, and the dozens of other daring women out there then I have a few tips and tricks for you to implement into your morning routine, so that you can have the most mindful and impactful routine.
Wake Up Slow
One of the number one things I cannot recommend enough when it comes to establishing a mindful morning routine is to wake up slowly. What I mean by this is not having a blaring alarm that wakes you up abruptly, startles you, and stresses out your system. Instead maybe wakeup to a soothing sound, or even without an alarm, and ease your body into the morning.
We have all heard that we shouldn’t use technology or pick up our phones in the morning, and that is so true! Starting off the morning staring at the light from your phone, not only abruptly wakes you up, but it also puts your brain into the place of immediately needed to be fully awake and working on things. Not unlike waking up slow, waking up and immediately using technology wakes your brain up in a harsh way.
I cannot stress this enough, DRINK WATER! Starting your day off with water not only helps to wake you up, but it also wakes up your digestive system and gets it ready to start working throughout the day. Additionally aside from the obvious health benefits of drinking water, like better skin, more alertness, etc. drinking water first hydrates your body and prepares it for the day.
Now you may be thinking, Caitlin, you just told me to drink water, and now you are telling me to drink coffee or tea, but just hold on and listen. The vast majority of us need some kind of boost in the morning more than a nice cup or cold water, so my tip is if you are a coffee or tea drinker to take those few minutes in the morning and truly drink it mindfully. Take note of what you taste and smell; the warmth of the mug; and the feelings that you have while drinking.
I completely and totally 100% stand behind meditation, and especially morning mediation. Meditation is a great way to start your day because it causes you to focus, relax, and really puts you into a great headspace before starting the day. I myself have been meditating for years, and find that morning meditation really puts me in a great mindset to start the day.
Now this tip may not be for everyone, but I swear by it, and that is to pamper yourself in the morning. Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying that you need to spend hours every morning taking a bubble bath, but taking a few minutes each morning for yourself is so vital for self care. Something as simple as your morning skin care routine, or a nice hot shower will do the trick just fine. The whole point is to take some time for yourself, and dedicate a few minutes to your own wellbeing.
If you are anything like me then you are probably a busy go-getter kind of woman, and there is nothing wrong with that. But unfortunately that means we often put ourselves last and are always running in a million different directions trying to accomplish our goals and dreams, and that can lead to burnout, stress, and all sorts or problems. So I highly encourage any go-getter boss ladies to create a mindful morning routine that they can implement into their lives relatively simply, and watch as it revolutionizing your life and morning.
