I will be the first to admit that self confidence and body positivity are not easy things to have in your life. There is nothing easy, in today’s day and age, about loving yourself, and truly believing in one’s self. So to help you out with the struggle that is being a body positive person and establishing and maintain self confidence in your life, I wanted to share with you 5 tips and tricks that I have learned that have really helped me on my body positive and self confidence journey.
Loving yourself, body positivity, and self confidence are all a constant struggle and that is ok. Like I said before there is nothing easy about these topics, and because of that there is often a very real internal struggle around trying to establish these patterns. But I want you to know that there is nothing wrong with being a work in progress, or not being completely in love with yourself. So the next time you falter in your confidence or self love remember that that is completely normal.
Starts From Within
In order to truly practice body positivity, self love, or to have self confidence the work really starts from within. You really have to work on your own self love, trust, and personal development first in order for the other things to fall into place. Without setting that groundwork it is going to be almost impossible to have a true sense of self confidence or a positive view of your own body.
A huge part of having self confidence and being able to love your body as it is revolves around what you let into your life, and often one of the most impactful things we let into our life are the people around us. So in order to establish these healthy self loving behaviors remove the haters and negative people from your life, and surround yourself with honest people who will lift you up.
Not unlike the people we let into our life we have to be careful with the social media we expose ourselves to. In today’s society we spend so much of our time on social media unfortunately often comparing ourselves to the highlight reels we see of other’s lives. Aside from not being realistic this isn’t healthy. Instead follow empowering accounts that promote self confidence, body positivity, self love, and the like.
This may the most important tip that I can give you, and that is to start small. Like I said before there is nothing easy about loving yourself as you are, so much in our lives directly teaches us the opposite, so when in comes to adopting practices in your life like body positivity or self confidence remember to start small. Maybe one day you wear something you never thought you could wear, and before you know it you won’t even think twice about wearing that outfit.
